About ParkinsonNet
Over 10,000,000 people in the world live with Parkinson’s disease.
ParkinsonNet is on a mission to improve the lives and guarantee the best possible care for those people impacted by Parkinson’s disease.
We are ParkinsonNet and would love to have your country on board of our global network.
ParkinsonNet was founded in 2004 in the Netherlands, were patient centered and network based healthcare was lifted to a whole new level and brought into everyday practice. Nowadays, over 3,400 medical and allied healthcare professionals in the Netherlands collaborate with each other and their patients to improve (health)care for all people living with Parkinson’s. With this number we reached national coverage of specialized care, which means that in the entire Netherlands, there are ParkinsonNet experts available to patients.
These enthusiastic professionals are supported by a dedicated team at the ParkinsonNet coordination center at the Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen. The organization is lead by ParkinsonNet initiators, prof. dr. Bastiaan Bloem and dr. Marten Munneke.
We train and educate healthcare professionals, make them Parkinson’s disease experts and create networks of those professionals around and with those people living with Parkinson’s. Because we believe that the best possible care for this complex disease is only possible when patients are completely involved and through expertise and patients and healthcare professionals working together as one team.
ParkinsonNet is endorsed by professional healthcare organizations (e.g. for physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and neurology) and the Dutch Parkinson patient’s society.
